Effective November 1, 2026oysterme LLC

Bold is welcome. Mean is not. The rules everyone on oysterme agrees to, and what happens when they're broken.

The short version

  • Be the person your vouches say you are.
  • No harassment, threats, pressure, hate, lies, scams or doxxing. Ever.
  • One warning, then you're banned. Threats and anything involving minors: banned on the spot.
  • After Dark is flirty between two consenting adults, not a loophole.
  • Wrongly flagged? Request a review and a person will look.

01The one rule

oysterme only works if people feel safe tapping each other. So: be the person your vouches say you are. Bold is welcome. Flirty is fine. Mean, dishonest or pushy is not.

02Never allowed

  • Harassment and bullying. Insults, slurs, humiliation, comments about someone's body or looks in feedback, or contacting someone who asked you to stop.
  • Threats and violence. Any threat, to anyone, for any reason.
  • Pressure. Pushing for a number, a meeting, explicit content, or anything a person declined.
  • Hate. Attacks on anyone for race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • Impersonation and lies. Fake photos, someone else's name, a made-up job, pretending to be single when you're not, or writing your own vouch.
  • Sexual content involving a minor, or any contact with a minor. This is reported to law enforcement.
  • Scams and solicitation. Asking for money, gift cards, crypto, tickets or account details, selling anything, or sending bulk messages.
  • Doxxing. Sharing anyone's address, workplace, phone number or private details.
  • Anything illegal.

03After Dark

After Dark is for bolder, flirtier questions between two adults who both opted in. It is not a loophole. Everything above still applies. Explicit content our checks flag stays covered until the other person chooses to see it, and "no" ends it. If someone turns After Dark off, respect it.

04How enforcement works

  • Messages, notes, vouches and custom questions are checked automatically before delivery.
  • Strike 1: the message is blocked and never seen. You get one warning that explains the rule.
  • Strike 2: your account is closed.
  • Threats, minors, illegal content: immediate ban, no warning.
  • Reports from other people count as strikes too, after a person on our team reviews them.
  • Bans follow the person, not the link. Using oysterme without an account doesn't exempt you.

05Think we got it wrong?

Automatic checks make mistakes. If a warning or ban was a false flag, tap "Request a review" or email safety@oysterme.co. A person reads every appeal and answers within 5 business days. Our decision after review is final.

06Reporting someone

Every page and message has a Report button. Tell us what happened; screenshots help. We don't tell the other person who reported them. If you're in danger, call 911 first.

Questions?

Email safety@oysterme.co. A real person reads it, and we answer privacy requests within 30 days, usually much sooner.
